An L-3 Communications division has received an initial $23.5 million task order to provide training systems to the U.S. Air Force as part of a potential seven-year, $200 million contract awarded in April.
L-3 said Wednesday its link simulation and training division will act as prime contractor on the Air Force’s Warfighter Readiness & Training program that seeks advanced tools for the military branch to train and prepare warfighters.
“This award builds on L-3’s long-term involvement in the leading edge of research and development for warfighter training and represents a major recompete win for L-3,†said Steve Kantor, president of L3’s electronic systems group.
Kantor added the L-3 team will collaborate with the Air Force Research Laboratory to develop technologies and update training methods of the service branch.
The Warfighter Readiness & Training program covers development, evaluation and validation of training approaches, methods, tools and infrastructure.
