A joint venture of Cardno and Amec Foster Wheeler has landed a five-year, $30 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity architect-engineering contract from the Naval Facilities Engineering Command to evaluate the state of U.S. Marine Corps-operated buildings.
The Cardno-Amec Foster Wheeler JV will use the Defense Department‘s BUILDER Sustainment Management System to conduct building condition assessments on USMC facilities worldwide, Cardno said Wednesday.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers‘ Construction Engineering Research Laboratory developed the web-based software application BUILDER SMS to create models for capital and maintenance cost projections using facility component condition, functionality and service life data.
Cardno added BUILDER SMS works to help DOD develop short- and long-term plans to manage investments in asset development, sustainment, restoration and modernization efforts.
