John Lee, vice president of cloud services at Carahsoft Technology, has said federal agencies should use NASA’s Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement vehicle to buy information technology products and services in order to facilitate their transition to cloud computing environments.
Lee wrote in an article published Tuesday that agencies can also leverage SEWP’s statements of work in order to gain control over their services.
SEWP also promotes the use of a “non-specific ordering†categorization on acquisition documents, he noted.
Lee added that this categorization seeks to help agencies “use the cloud and bill users every 30 days with an itemized list of what services they used.â€
He also described the acquisition vehicle as a “catalog by request.â€
“This means if there is a product an agency needs to purchase but it is not on the list, organizations can request it be added.”
