A subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies has received a $30.1 million contract to deliver company-made Aircrew Laser Eye Protection spectacles to the U.S. Air Force.
Teledyne Scientific & Imaging will provide ALEP spectacles for the service branch’s aircrew members to protect their eyes from hazard and threat laser devices as well as visual acuity degradation when they participate in combat and training activities, the Defense Department said Wednesday.
DoD noted that ALEP is designed to protect against permanent eye damage, glare and flash blindness caused by laser weapons and equipment.
Teledyne Scientific & Imaging will perform contract work in Camarillo, California through Dec. 31, 2020.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center obligated $6.4 million in fiscal 2014 other procurement funds at the time of the award.
