The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency plans to launch two contracts worth approximately $21.5 million for software development support services under its Hallmark program that aims to provide real-time visualization of space operations, Space News reported Monday.
Mike Gruss writes DARPA released an initial solicitation on June 17 to acquire a proof of concept effort that would serve as the foundation of a software testbed that is likely to be based in Northern Virginia.
That contract will have an 18-month first phase worth up to $16 million and could be followed by two option periods.
The potential $4 million second phase would cover the integration of additional command and control features to a software testbed while phase three could be worth $1.5 million and involve further technology development and program transition to the U.S. Air Force.
DARPA could unveil a second solicitation later this year in search of software development and tools to support the Air Force, according to Space News.
