MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates has secured a potential $11.6 million follow-on contract from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to provide a change detection system in support of NGA’s Foundation GEOINT.
MDA said Monday it will continue to help the agency monitor the effects of climate change, identify facilities under construction and monitor urban sprawl, deforestation, wetlands loss and coastal expansion projects with the company’s Persistent Change Monitoring platform.
The system works to examine satellite images to identify changes in land due to seasonal changes, weather or human activities, MDA noted.
The company designed PCM to supply information that could help analysts determine areas of change when they update global map databases.
