In-Q-Tel has signed a strategic investment and partnership agreement with Databricks in a push to help the San Francisco, California-based technology firm deploy an open-source big data processing engine to U.S. intelligence agencies.
IQT said Tuesday Databricks’ Apache Spark platform is powered by cloud technology and designed for enterprise users to analyze huge amounts of data, integrate disparate information silos and gain insights in real time.
“Enterprises today know there is untapped value in their data, especially within the intelligence community, but selecting the tools to unlock that value is often a complex process,” said Ion Stoica, Databricks executive chairman.
He added the company aims to help “developers, data scientists, data engineers and other IT professionals to get up and running very quickly via one end-to-end platform,†Stoica added.
