The U.K.’s ministry of defense and IBM have unveiled the Defense Cyber Aptitude Test assessment service during the IBM HR Summit 2016, the Recruiter reported Thursday.
Recruiter writes that DCAT is designed to check a military service member’s potential to work in cyberspace-related fields by determining behavioral characteristics and testing attention to detail, numerical and verbal skills and ability to identify errors.
It adds that the assessment service works to address a predicted shortage of cyber skills and professionals in the next few years.
Chiara Staples, project manager at IBM, said the test looks at latent ability rather than existing knowledge.
DCAT was rolled out in May with MoD seeking to licence DCAT in the commercial market.
