Science Applications International Corp. has selected VMware to provide cloud-based platforms for SAIC’s simulation training program as part of an effort to meet the technical requirements of government customers.
Bob Kleinhample, vice president of simulation and training systems at SAIC, wrote in a blog article published Monday that SAIC developed a simulation-as-a-service offering with the use of VMware’s vCloud Air and VMware Horizon 6 platforms.
Kleinhample said the simulation-as-a-service platform is designed to help customers implement standalone, blended learning, interactive and large-scale distributed simulations.
Kleinhample noted that the training and simulation programs needed to educate military personnel and civilian workers of real-world combat techniques require a huge amount of computing power.
“Organizations don’t have to invest in significant on-site computing power,†he added.
“They can even virtually train and interact with other trainees in real-time thanks to VMware vCloud Air and Horizon 6.”
