A General Atomics subsidiary has signed partnership agreements with CAE and the University of North Dakota’s aerospace foundation in an effort to augment training services for operators of Predator and Reaper remotely piloted aircraft.
The UND Aerospace Foundation will provide a flight simulator system to help train students at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc.‘s RPA Training Academy in North Dakota on how to operate a drone, General Atomics said Wednesday.
GA-ASI and the foundation also seek to explore commercial applications of RPAs as part of their agreement.
CAE plans to apply its experience in providing Predator and Reaper simulation, classroom and live flying instructions for the U.S. Air Force as well as its simulator technology development expertise to the company’s partnership with GA-ASI.
“We look forward to working with UND Aerospace and CAE to meet the growing global demand for RPA instruction,” said GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue.
The UND Aerospace Foundation, co-located with the Grand Forks Air Force Base, offers initial qualification and continuation training support for Predator and Reaper operators.
