CH2M will serve as a design-build contractor for the $1.2 billion Northeast Water Purification Plant Expansion project of Houston, Texas, and the $85 million Cogeneration Facility Project of San Jose, California.
The company said Wednesday its joint venture with CDM Smith — called Houston Waterworks Team — will work to design, construct and operate a water facility that could help Houston save $9 million in operations and maintenance costs.
The nine-year NEWPP project also aims to update the existing plant’s conversion capacity from 80 to 320 million gallons per day through two development phases, CH2M noted.
The engineering services firm added the cogeneration system at the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility will be designed to supply on-site power and heat and replace old cogeneration equipment.
CH2M further said work for the cogeneration project includes that installation of a new digester gas treatment system, control system and monitoring system with connectivity to the RWF’s distributed control system; new digester gas and natural gas pipelines and new heat recovery systems.
These updates work to help the San Jose-Santa Clara facility process wastewater for the San Francisco South Bay, CH2M noted.
