BAE Systems and CyberSecurity Malaysia have signed a memorandum of agreement to support the growth of the cybersecurity industry in the Southeast Asian country, Enterprise IT News reported Wednesday.
Cat Yong writes BAE will provide a specialist staff and laboratories to CyberSecurity Malaysia to facilitate Common Criteria product certification to support the development of cyber products in the local market.
“Given the ever increasing threat of cyber attack, it is crucial to strengthen our approach and work proactively and collaboratively,” said Barry Johnson, Malaysia country manager for BAE’s applied intelligence business.
He added that BAE has worked with both government and commercial organizations in Malaysia to build on cyber and threat intelligence programs since the company began its cyber practice in the country in 2013.
The report said other collaboration areas will include national response, security monitoring services and a national cryptography plan in Malaysia.
CyberSecurity Malaysia is part of the country’s science, technology and innovation agency.
