Sandia National Laboratories and the California Fire and Rescue Training Authority have signed a memorandum of agreement for the development of new emergency planning, exercise and response concepts.
Sandia aims to build on its nine-month agreement with California for emergency response scenarios on wildfire, chlorine tanker release and radiological dispersal device for CFRTA and the state, Sandia said Wednesday.
“The work provided by Sandia will help emergency responders be better prepared to respond to large-scale, human caused and natural disasters,â€Â said Ruben Grijalva, executive director of CFRTA.
“This new partnership will allow the CESC to be used as a testbed for Sandia-developed technologies.â€
Sandia will link a set of models and data from the state for the simulation of possible impacts on population, infrastructure and the economy.
Lockheed Martin subsidiary Sandia Corp. operates the laboratory for the Energy Department and focuses on research-and-development strategies in national security.
