The Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol has certified to Congress that an Elbit Systems of America-built Integrated Fixed Towers border surveillance system meets operational requirements, as part of the 2014 Consolidated Appropriations Act.
Parent company Elbit Systems said Thursday IFT works to provide long-range, 360-degree, all-weather surveillance for optimized situational awareness and agent safety.
The company added the certification — which was given after a review of test results and agent feedback on the system’s initial deployment in Nogales, Arizona – allows further installation of IFT systems in the Douglas Area of Responsibility.
Elbit Systems further noted it has provided on-site and logistics support for the IFT system in the Nogales AoR since its deployment in August 2015.
