The U.S. Coast Guard has launched market research on the availability of commercial technology and service offerings to support the maritime security agency’s information technology modernization effort.
In a notice posted Thursday on FedBizOpps, the Coast Guard said it will hold a vendor information session in Alexandria, Virginia, on April 26 to discuss program objectives and critical success factors with interested parties.
USCG aims to transform a network infrastructure that will serve as the “key enabler” to the organization’s Command, Control, Communications, Computer and IT Service Center.
The current USCG IT infrastructure is designed to support more than 54,000 users globally as well as the service branch’s fleet of cutters and fixed-wing aircraft.
The agency said it is interested in adopting an enterprise approach to secure mission data, comply with federal security policies and address system vulnerabilities and attack surface.
