Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin has formed a new business unit after it completed the combination of energy platforms and related offerings that were previously aligned in various business areas.

Lockheed Martin Energy will offer platforms across the areas of energy management, nuclear systems, energy storage, bio-energy and ocean technologies, the company said Tuesday.

Frank Armijo, who has been newly appointed vice president of Lockheed Martin Energy, said the new line of business will work to promote collaboration, introduce novel technologies and advance its corporate growth strategy in the energy sector.

Lockheed started to realign its energy offerings into its missile and fire control business segment in July 2015 after it announced its plan to review the separation of its technical services and government information technology business components.

Grand Prairie, Texas-Lockheed Martin Energy will operate with approximately 1,000 staff worldwide and intends to equip its energy offerings with cybersecurity platforms.
