Lockheed Martin has been selected to supply ground-based radars to Romania that will work to operate independently in remote areas to address the customer’s needs.
Lockheed will produce two TPS-77 radars and digital array row transceivers for the country under the contract agreement, the company said Monday.
“The feedback we receive from our ongoing collaborations with countries like Romania leads to the development of system enhancements like DART,” said Mark Mekker, Lockheed Martin director for surveillance radars.
TPS-77 is made of the gallium nitride material to control power consumption and facilitate lower life-cycle costs and a longer operational lifespan, Lockheed noted.
The company will manufacture the TPS-77 radars in Syracuse, New York.
