Lockheed Martin has been selected to build an S band satellite for SKY Perfect JSAT Corp. based on the A2100 design.
Lockheed said Wednesday it will produce JCSAT-17, the eighth satellite SJC has ordered for disaster relief missions.
The company will manufacture the satellite in Denver, Colorado, and deliver the product in 2019.
“We’ve built a number of satellites for SJC and we’re honored that they have placed their trust in us again,†said Carl Marchetto, vice president and general manager of commercial space at Lockheed.
“And with the sale of an additional A2100, it adds yet another satellite to our healthy backlog,†Marchetto added.
SJC previously awarded Lockheed contracts to build NSAT-110, JCSAT-9 through JCSAT-13 and JCSAT-110R.
