The Department of Health and Human Services‘ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has issued a request for information on the possible expansion of the horizon scanning system to determine new trends that might help reduce healthcare costs.
AHRQ said in a FedBizOpps notice published Feb. 2 that horizon scanning works to identify innovative approaches and platforms that aim to improve patient outcomes within one to two years.
According to the RFI, the agency is interested in reimbursement trends and generic drugs designed to replace expensive pharmaceuticals.
AHRQ will also consider trends in healthcare services delivery, use of medical devices such as robotic surgery systems and imaging tools by healthcare providers and procurement of such devices.
Responses to the RFI are due on March 2.
