Esri has launched an open data initiative to help law enforcement agencies manage and share public safety data with the company’s ArcGISÂ mapping and spatial analysis software.
The ArcGIS Open Data Initiative for Law Enforcement also seeks to help authorities comply with the White House’s police data transparency goals, Esri said Thursday.
The company designed its platform for organizations to access maps and geographic information.
“Using the ArcGIS platform, you can use data your agency already owns and make it available to everyone at no cost,” said John Beck, Esri’s law enforcement industry manager.
Esri’s ArcGIS open data program allows law enforcement personnel to configure and implement applications for managing citizen reports and mapping crime patterns, use of force, shootings, investigations and community outreach events.
