CAECAE‘s U.S. business unit has received authorization from the U.S. Navy to begin technology refresh work on simulator and training systems for the service branch’s fleet of MH-60 Seahawk helicopters.

The company said Wednesday the Navy gave the signal for CAE to proceed following the Government Accountability Office‘s decision over a bid protest on the MH-60R/S Tech Refresh program.

The program covers updates to training systems for the MH-60S Sierra and MH-60R Romeo, which Lockheed Martin subsidiary Sikorsky Aircraft built for the Navy.

“The Navy has a definitive plan in place to increasingly use more simulation-based training throughout its overall training program,” noted Ray Duquette, president and general manager of CAE USA.

He added that the technology refresh works to facilitate increased training fidelity and cost effectiveness.

Under the contract, CAE will develop a common hardware/software baseline for training devices, expand the visual field of view on MH-60S tactical operational flight trainers, convert an SH-60B helicopter simulator into an MH-60R TOFT and provide two more of the latter TOFTs.
