Turner Construction and Santa Clara County in California have agreed to proceed with the Valley Medical Center expansion project under a new contract valued at approximately $466.5 million, Silicon Valley Business Journal reported Friday.
Nathan Donato-Weinstein writes the new “change order” has been reached following the county’s decision to drop a case it filed in September 2015 over the issue of delays and rising costs on the project.
County CEO Jeff Smith said the project will now use fixed costs and that Turner Construction has moved to introduce changes to its process through increased subcontractor involvement.
Peter Davoren, CEO of Turner Construction, will coordinate with Smith on the project every six weeks and will work to settle claims with subcontractors, Donato-Weinstein reports.
