Jacobs Engineering has been selected to advise on the Welsh government’s plan to upgrade the transport link between Dowlais Top and Hirwaun in South Wales, U.K.
The company will work to design and perform environmental impact assessment for the expansion of sections 5 and 6 of the A465 transport network, Jacobs said Tuesday.
The Welsh government wants to widen nearly 16 kilometers of the three-lane carriageway to the dual carriageway standard, with a 1.5-kilometer off-line section at Hirwaun.
“This scheme is critical to upgrading the transportation infrastructure in South Wales and facilitating regeneration,” said Bob Duff, Jacobs buildings and infrastructure senior vice president.
The network will comprise grade-separated junctions, viaduct crossings of the Taff Fawr and Taff Fechan Valleys, and Nant Hir reservoir.
