A Fluor joint venture has been awarded a contract from the Arizona Department of Transportation to design and construct an approximately 22-mile highway around the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Connect 202 Partners will begin construction of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway in summer and is scheduled to complete work in late 2019 or early 2020, Fluor said Tuesday.
The freeway will have one high-occupancy vehicle lane and three general-use lanes and will connect Interstate 10 at Pecos Road to I-10 between 55th and 63rd avenues.
Fluor’s enterprise business, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Granite Construction, DBi Services and Ames Construction compose the joint venture.
Fluor and DBi Services will maintain the highway over a 30-year period as part of the agreement.
