DigitalGlobe plans to begin commercial operation of its WorldView-4 satellite next year to deliver high-resolution Earth imagery products and services to customers worldwide.
The company said Wednesday it has received $335 million in commitments from international defense and intelligence agencies since last year’s third quarter for direct access capacity on WorldView-3 and WorldView-4.
WorldView-4Â is scheduled for a September 2016 launch and is designed to generate images with up to 30-centimeter resolution.
DigitalGlobe has also invested money to build a common architecture for ground terminals in a move to address a demand for fast access to the company’s entire WorldView satellite constellation.
Four upgraded direct access facilities have gone live and a fifth station is scheduled to be ready in early 2017.
