satellite airforceORBCOMM deployed 11 OG2 satellites Monday aboard the SpaceX-made Falcon 9 rocket to provide machine-to-machine communications and Automatic Identification System-related services for commercial clients.

The satellites’ launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida marks ORBCOMM’s second mission to complete the OG2 satellite constellation, the company said Monday.

ORBCOMM said it expects to deliver full commercial AIS and M2M messaging services to clients within the next two months once the satellites’ subsystems complete in-orbit tests.

ORBCOMM CEO Marc Eisenberg noted the work of his team and the SpaceX team’s landing of the Falcon 9 reusable stage-one booster.

OG2 is a commercial satellite constellation that works to provide M2M satellite messaging services through low-Earth orbit satellites and ground infrastructure, which is composed of 16 gateway Earth stations and control centers.
