Intelsat has scheduled a launch of the first Boeing-built Intelsat EpicNG satellite aboard Arianespace‘s Ariane 5 ECA rocket for Jan. 27, 2016 to provide mobility and broadband services across the Americas and North Atlantic region.
Intelsat 29e will work to deliver a digital payload that supports high-throughput connectivity for commercial and government users, Intelsat said Tuesday.
“With 2016 fast approaching, Intelsat 29e is completed and awaiting shipment to the launch site,” said CEOÂ Stephen Spengler.
“Intelsat continues to work closely with Boeing and Arianespace to ensure that Intelsat 29e is ready for its planned January launch date.”
Intelsat 29e will launch from the Guiana Space Center in the French Guiana and replace the Intelsat 1R and Intelsat 805 satellites in space.
The entire EpicNG fleet will feature wide beams, spot beams and frequency reuse technology, Intelsat said.
