Hera Systems plans to launch its first imaging satellites in October 2016 after it completed preliminary design review of the spacecraft and secured an initial round of funds from investors led by Firsthand Capital.
The company said Thursday the nine-satellite constellation will work to produce images and video that its analytics platform will utilize to generate insights offered as part of the package.
Hera Systems is a satellite information and analytics firm founded in 2013 and based in San Jose, California.
“Today’s customers want and expect a variety of features and intelligent analytics capabilities from a single source – and they expect a very high value for every dollar spent,” said CEO Bobby Machinski.
Hera Systems added it plans to eventually grow the constellation to 48 satellites that feature “sun-synchronous” and “inclined orbit” functions.
Machinski said the company is preparing for a next round of investment funding as it eyes potential partnerships and capability updates.
