Ashok Sankar, director of cybersecurity at Raytheon-Websense, has recommended organizations rethink their security strategies and refocus on resilience amid a changing threat environment, ComputerWeekly.com reported Thursday.
Warwick Ashford writes that Sankar told an audience at the 2015 RSA Conference in the United Arab Emirates that security must adapt as companies adopt technologies such as mobile and cloud.
“As technology innovations promise greater productivity and other business benefits, security cannot be a burden; it needs to enable business to navigate the risks these technologies pose,” Sankar said.
He advocated for IT teams to enable dialogue with business executives and employees to understand their needs and educate them on the security implications of new technologies.
Sankar also said data analytics must be applied to get the context of security breaches, the report said.
