A survey report from Deloitte‘s Center for Health Solutions indicates that the use of technology to manage health, access the healthcare system and purchase health-related goods or services has increased among U.S. consumers.
The company said Monday technology use among users with major chronic conditions increased from 19 percent in 2013 to 32 percent in 2014, while 71 percent of the survey respondents were open to use online health pricing tools.
“Healthcare is becoming more digitized and consumer-oriented,” said Greg Scott, principal at Deloitte’s consulting practice and U.S. health plans sector leader at the company.
“For the enterprise, this is about more than a cool app – this is about making the end-to-end changes needed to better identify and engage a more empowered purchaser.”
Tthe “Health Care Consumer Engagement: No One-Size-Fits-All Approach” report says the trend points to a transformation of the healthcare industry into a customer-driven or retail-focused one.
