Faisal Iqbal, public sector chief technology officer for Citrix, has outlined a number of steps for government agencies to combat cyber attacks.
Iqbal wrote in an opinion piece for Federal News Radio published Tuesday that there is a need for agencies to adopt personal identity verification cards and multifactor authentication through software-defined workspaces.
He noted that software-defined workspaces help to protect data at rest and in transit using encryption in compliance with the Federal Information Processing Standard.
Iqbal urged agencies to apply virtualized services in their workplace with the goal of minimizing data exposure to threats.
He also recommended that agencies reduce the amount of time for configuration management and vulnerability patches through virtualized workspace, and that they consolidate the network to minimize the attack.
