Leidos will lead a health information technology consortium to build, integrate and deploy a commercial electronic medical records platform for the U.S. Defense Department under a potential $4.3 billion contract.

“We are honored to have been selected as the best-value solution for the Defense Healthcare Management System Modernization contract,” Roger Krone, Leidos chairman and CEO, said Wednesday.

“We are committed to the mission and success of the DHMSM program, and are fully prepared to lean forward with the Department of Defense to deliver a best-of-class electronic health records solution for our nation’s armed forces, their families and beneficiaries.”

Members of the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health include Cerner, Accenture‘s federal services unit and Henry Schein Inc.

Jim Traficant, managing director of Accenture, said the companies will combine their healthcare, technology and systems infrastructure expertise to help the department manage healthcare services for U.S. military personnel.

“We are proud to have a role in serving those who have served us,” added Traficant.

DoD issued the DHMSM contract to the Leidos-led team in July and the program has an initial two-year ordering period, as well as two three-year option periods and a potential two-year award term.
