Rockwell Collins has introduced a network to facilitate communications between first responders and public safety personnel during hurricanes and other natural disasters.
The company said Monday the ARINC UrgentLink communications platform works to allow safety officials to place voice calls and send information to other critical infrastructure personnel and other stakeholders using Federal Communications Commission-regulated radio frequencies.
The system is also designed to work in electricity-deprived areas during calamities and other critical public situations.
Rockwell Collins will demonstrate the communications network at the 2015 Annual Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials conference and offer it as a subscription-based service.
