A Raytheon-commissioned global survey has found that organizations differ in their cybersecurity posture outlooks and face different challenges in terms of cyber readiness and governance.
Ashok Sankar, senior director of cyber product strategy and management at Raytheon, writes the 2015 Global Megatrends in Cybersecurity study says more than half of information technology leaders from the government and technology industries said they believe intelligence operations are key to improving an organization’s security posture.
Thirty-nine percent of services industry respondents expressed the same sentiment.
More than 50 of respondents in the finance sector said their companies have technologies in place to secure data and infrastructure, compared with 43 percent of those who work at manufacturing companies.
Sixty-nine percent of manufacturing, healthcare and technology firms lack skilled security practitioners while 58 percent of transportation companies need more security professionals, according to Sankar.
He added the study showed that 55 percent of IT executive respondents from the services industry observed their organizations implementing measures to comply with cybersecurity standards.
Forty-four percent of survey participants from the government sector said their agencies are working to address compliance issues.
The Ponemon Institute conducted the survey for Raytheon and interviewed 1,006 IT professionals in North America, Europe and the Middle East and North Africa.
