An Airbus company has teamed with Kodiak to develop an open standards interface that supports connectivity between push-to-talk systems and mission-critical radio networks.
Airbus DS Communications said Thursday it will combine the functions of its VESTA Radio product with Kodiak Broadband PTT to facilitate communications between land mobile radio users and push-to-talk users.
“Linking mission-critical LMR networks with non-mission-critical carrier devices effectively extends the range of the LMR network to anywhere with a cellular signal,” said Bob Freinberg, CEO of Airbus DS Communications.
The company added that the service interoperability works to enable public works, transportation and similar agencies to use push-to-talk handheld devices and communicate via carrier networks.
