A Black Hat survey of information technology security professionals found that IT spending priorities and security tasks at enterprises do not match or keep pace with current threats in the cybersecurity environment, GCN reported Thursday.
Mark Pomerleau writes that the 2015 Black Hat Conference attendee survey indicates that the disconnect is due to existing application flaws and the shortage of cyber funding and skilled professionals.
In the corresponding “Time to Rethink Enterprise IT Security” report, Black Hat noted that the most concerning security threats for respondents include directed attacks, phishing, social network exploits, malware, government espionage and mobile device vulnerabilities.
Pomerleau writes respondents point to the Internet of Things as a leading threat area for IT security over the next two years.
