IBM and Seagate Technology have developed a fresh software defined storage appliance by combining IBM’s storage software with Seagate’s high performance computing storage platform.
Seagate has consolidated its ClusterStor storage service into IBM’s Spectrum Scale software for users to handle storage demands for genomic research, digital design, media, data analytics, financial model analysis and electronic design simulations, Seagate said Monday.
The integrated ClusterStor and IBM Spectrum Scale software is scheduled for market availability in late 2015 from Seagate’s sales partners.
Bernie Spang, vice president of IBM software defined infrastructure, said IBM “has created building blocks†for partners to deliver technology services intended to help customers fulfill various requirements.
