GATR Technologies will move forward to full-rate production of its Inflatable Satellite Communications Antenna for the U.S. Marine Corps as part of the High Bandwidth Special Intelligence-Palletized Terminal program of record.
The company said Monday it will initially produce 36 terminals with X- and Ku-band capability for the Marines’ radio and intelligence battalions under a $440 million contract awarded earlier this year.
Victor Vega, Marine Corps program manager at GATR, said the selection of the company’s commercial technology for the HBSI-PT program of record works to vet the antenna against Defense Department standards.
The Marine Corps Systems Command‘s Marine Air Ground Task Force will use the 370-pound HBSI-PT configuration ISA for communications and command-and-control operations.
