Forty-five percent of more than 400 security professional surveyed by RSA, the security division of EMC, across 61 countries have acknowledged their organizations’ inability to manage cyber risks.
RSA said June 9 its global Cybersecurity Poverty Index survey offers insight into how companies rate their cybersecurity measures against a framework developed by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.
The study found almost 75 percent of respondents reported an insufficient level of maturity in their security systems.
Survey participants identified protection as their most mature capability, but detection and response technologies lag in terms of maturity.
Fifty percent of respondents from the telecommunication sector reported having “developed” or “advantaged” systems against cyber threats, while only 18 percent of respondents from the government sector described their security infrastructure as “developed” or “advantaged.”
