General Dynamics has received approval from the U.S. Army to commence full-rate production of the company’s wireless battlefield communication systems for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Increment 2 program.
The company built the WIN-T platform to help Army commanders and soldiers communicate with each other and projects that all military units will have access to the network by 2028, General Dynamics said Monday.
“We’ll continue to support the Army as it fields this vital mission command and communications system throughout its global force,” said Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics Mission Systems.
WIN-T Increment 2 is designed to integrate with mine resistant ambush protected, Stryker and high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles.
The military service has used the network for security force assistance missions in Afghanistan and Ebola response efforts in West Africa.
