India will begin negotiations with the U.S. government for the purchase of 145 M777 howitzers from BAE Systems under a $493 million foreign military sales contract, Defense World reported Wednesday.
Pinaki Bhattacharya writes that India’s defense acquisition council approved the procurement a year after delays due to concerns over cost and requirements.
BAE plans to work with a local partner to manufacture the M777 artillery guns within the country, the report said.
