The Open Platform for NFV Project has added EMC as a Platinum member and VMware as a Silver member as the open source platform continues its work to boost innovation using network functions virtualization.
OPNFV said Friday EMC and VMware will join other members in collaborating toward the development of an open source framework for NFV.
“I’m delighted that VMware and our federation partner EMC are joining the OPNFV project to help accelerate the adoption of virtualized network infrastructures using OpenStack,” said David Wright, vice president of operations for the telco NFV group at VMware.
EMC will allocate dedicated employee resources to support the project as part of its Platinum member status, OPNFV noted.
Paul To, director of the company’s cloud and NFV unit, will also be part of OPNFV’s technical steering committee and board of directors.
