Lynne Halbrooks, formerly acting inspector general of the Defense Department between 2011 and 2013, has assumed the role of partner at Holland & Knight’s Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia offices.
She previously served as DoD’s principal deputy inspector general from 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2015, Holland and Knight said Tuesday.
Prior to that, Halbrooks was the general counsel for the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction and the deputy sergeant at arms and general counsel to the Office of the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate for four years.
“Her experience at the inspector general’s office and as a federal prosecutor will enhance our global litigation practice, and we are honored to have her join us,†said John Hogan, leader of Holland and Knight’s litigation section.
Halbrooks also held the roles of deputy director in the Executive Office for United States Attorneys and assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Wisconsin before she joined DoD in 2009 as the department’s first independent general counsel.
