Bechtel has resumed construction work for two natural gas liquefaction trains at the Corpus Christi liquefaction site in Texas.
The Corpus Christi liquefaction project is a collaboration between Bechtel and Cheniere Energy, Bechtel said Monday.
Charif Souki, chairman and CEO of Cheniere, said the first liquid natural gas export facility at Sabine Pass from Train 1 is scheduled to complete by the year’s end.
The first and second trains are also scheduled to operate in 2018.
Bechtel is tasked to build up to three trains with an estimated aggregate production capacity of 13.5 million tons per annum, three LNG storage tanks, two LNG carrier docks and a 22-mile, 48-inch natural gas supply pipeline.
“Cheniere is developing unprecedented natural gas liquefaction capacity in the United States, and we appreciate the opportunity to continue our successful collaboration,” said Jack Futcher, president of Bechtel’s oil, gas and chemicals business unit.
