The U.S. Defense Department has awarded NCR Corp. a contract to provide point-of-sale terminals for installation in military retail stores and food service facilities.
The company said Monday it will help DoD’s Army and Air Force Exchange Service install and maintain 6,000 RealPOS 72XRT systems at Exchange locations worldwide.
The Exchange offers goods and services for U.S. military personnel and their families at a discounted price.
Stan Ratcliffe, president of NCR’s government systems business, said the company aims to improve military families’ in-store experience through technology.
The RealPOS platform is built with an Intel-made processor and active management technology as well as tools designed to help operators monitor system health remotely.
