Gib Sorebo, chief cybersecurity technologist at Leidos, has recommended that organizations develop policies governing the use of connected devices to protect users from the Internet of Things’ “unintended consequences,” SC Magazine reported Friday.
Sorebo told SCMagazineUK.com at the annual RCA Conference that organizations also need to understand IoT use cases.
He observed multiple industries adopting cyber-physical systems and warned that Internet protocol-enabled devices could raise privacy and security concerns.
“It’s the same issues we see at the Internet but we are seeing it in the physical world now and I think that is the biggest challenge,” Sorebo added.
He also believes that complex infrastructure operators must understand how a system can work independently of its applications, the report said.
