data graph chartTechServe Alliance has estimated U.S. companies created 210,200 new information technology jobs and 36,300 new engineering positions over the past 12 months.

On a month-over-month basis, the IT workforce across the U.S. grew by 0.4 percent to roughly 4,856,400 in February 2015, TechServe Alliance said Wednesday.

The number of engineering workers last month was up 0.2 percent to approximately 2,522,500.

Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance, said the White House kicked off the TechHire initiative last week in an effort to address a growing demand for skilled technical professionals.

The Alexandria, Virginia-based trade group’s report also provided a graphical presentation of U.S. IT and engineering employment rates by sector for the month of February.
