The government solutions business of SES has held the second demonstration of O3b Networks‘ satellite system for “fiber-like” connectivity at the SES Washington Media Port in Virginia.
SES said Monday the O3b technology works as an alternative to fiber networks to provide high-speed communications capability for government operations in remote locations.
Pete Hoene, president and CEO of SES Government Solutions, said the system supports high-definition video streaming and cloud applications.
The company added that it can also be set up at a shorter time than fiber networks to provide support for C2ISR operations, image and video distribution and desktop conferencing.
SES GS now offers O3b technology to government customers via its GSA Schedule contract and is a government distribution partner of O3b Networks.
