The Center for Innovative Technology has launched a new accelerator program with the Department of Homeland Security‘s Science and Technology Directorate to equip first responders with the latest innovations in wearable technology.
CIT said Wednesday the “EMERGE! Accelerating Wearable Tech for First Responders” program aims to adapt commercial wearable technology from startup companies to support first responders.
“CIT is honored to partner with DHS S&T to use new methods and ideas that deliver innovative solutions to help them meet their security mission,” said President and CEO Pete Jobse.
The nonprofit organization will work with Tech Wildcatters of Texas and TechNexus of Illinois on the EMERGE! pilot to provide funding and mentorship support for startups.
CIT said the program is also part of ongoing DHS efforts to collaborate with entrepreneurs in meeting the needs of the sector through innovation.
Tech Wildcatters and TechNexus will join CIT and DHS S&T at the SXSW event Friday to discuss the EMERGE! program.
