BechtelLogo (1)Bechtel will put a new $10 million investment into its office location in Virginia’s Fairfax County to accommodate 700 relocated jobs as part of the company’s corporate restructuring and business expansion effort in the region.

The company said Wednesday it will lease 175,000 square feet of space to add to its global operations headquarters in Reston as part of the move from Frederick, Maryland.

“Conveniently situated between two airports, [the new location] facilitates international and domestic travel, which is key to our business, provides access to a highly skilled workforce, and offers an enjoyable work/life environment for our employees,” said Bechtel CEO Bill Dudley.

Bechtel first relocated its global operations headquarters from Maryland to Virginia in 2011, the office of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said in a separate announcement.

“Today’s announcement further solidifies the company’s commitment to Virginia, and we are thrilled to see the operation grow and create high-value, diverse jobs,” McAuliffe said.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked to secure the investment, aided by a $500,000 grant to the county from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund.

McAuliffe also approved a $4 million performance-based incentive from the Virginia Economic Development Incentive Grant, the governor’s office stated.
